West Palm Beach is not just for crew basing themselves at the Rybovich shipyard. There’s a new player in town, and this one proves to be more exclusive and private than joining the riffraff in town. Berth One Palm Beach has only recently opened to the Superyacht industry, founded by Kevin O’Conor as a way to fill the gap in the market for yacht owners who want a deep berth (think, big yachts!) and who also like the idea of joining their Superyacht at a private terminal. Here’s an easy guide for Yacht Chefs arriving into Berth One, West Palm Beach for the first time.
Berth One International, a dedicated superyacht dock and shipyard facility at Palm Beach Inlet, Florida, accommodates yachts up to 135 meters. Its protected entrance, safe inner harbor, and a prime, deep-water location are ideal characteristics of this South Florida marina.
A 450-foot slip in the Port of Palm Beach is now available for large yachts.
Port commissioners voted unanimously on Oct. 19 to lease the slip to Berth One International, a company co-owned by a yacht owner and his former captain, Kevin O’Conor.
This month, Berth One International, a new venture at the Port of Palm Beach, was launched to help fill the demand of super yachts — defined as privately owned vessels longer than 100 feet.
It’s a dilemma facing large megayachts around the world: too few berths. Whereas some tie up alongside in commercial ports, concierge and other yacht-centric services there are lacking, if they even exist. Berth One International is not only solving those issues stateside, it’s doing so in Palm Beach, Florida, an area previously under-serving the demand.
As they travel the world’s oceans, mega yachts are bigger than ever, and loaded with amenities from theaters to spas. Along with professional crews of up to 50 people, they carry everything from helicopters to small submarines, Ferraris, Jeeps and jet skis.
IMSA Global VLOG: Episode 44. On location at the Port of Palm Beach to discuss a new facility specific for mega-yachts; Berth One. This facility has a number of unique amenities, as well as U.S. Customs Clearance onsite.
